This holder is built around 1kg of Maxspect Nano Tech bio spheres. The spheres sit in an open frame so water moves through all of them, and a copepod hotel fills the space underneath.
What holds Maxspect Nano Tech bio spheres?
This holder does, up to 1kg. Of our 3 Maxspect holders it is the only one designed around spheres rather than blocks, so if your media is spheres, this is the version to choose.
The spheres are not included. You buy them separately.
How do the flow and the pod hotel work together?
The frame is open, so water passes through the spheres instead of around them. Underneath is the pod hotel, a sheltered space where copepods and amphipods can multiply away from fish.
Once a population is established, those pods may feed on bacteria and detritus from the spheres above. That is why we treat the holder and the media as a pair.
How tall is the bio sphere holder?
It is 83mm by 83mm and 191.5mm high without the spheres loaded. That makes it the tallest of the 3, so measure the height you have before you order.
Which colours does it come in?
There are 5 to pick from: Midnight Black, Scarlet Red, Aqua Green, Clown Orange and Regal Blue. The photos also show a black and orange Special Edition finish.
Is it made by Maxspect?
Maxspect and Nano Tech are the names of another company's products. This holder is an independent accessory, designed and 3D printed by Marine Spec, and it is not made or endorsed by Maxspect.
