Marine Spec supplies aquarium water to local reef keepers in the Sudbury, Suffolk area. I offer 0 TDS RODI freshwater for top-ups and salt mixing, alongside natural seawater supplied in 25-litre quantities.

What does 0 TDS mean?
RODI stands for reverse osmosis deionised. TDS means total dissolved solids, and a reading of 0 means nothing dissolved in the water shows on the meter.
Why do reefers use RODI water?
Water evaporates from a tank but the salt stays behind, so a top up needs fresh water with nothing dissolved in it. The same water is where you start when you mix saltwater, because you control exactly what goes into the mix.

The Jurassic Coast. It is sourced in 25 litre quantities for marine aquariums.
What salinity and parameters should I expect?
Salinity is 34 to 36 ppt. The other common parameters are in the table. They are a guide, not a guarantee for every container, so test the water yourself before it goes in your tank.

Can RODI water or natural seawater be posted or delivered?

How much does the water cost?
RODI water is £2.90 per 25 litres, and natural seawater is £6.99 for 25 litres. I'll confirm the price and quantity when you enquire.
What does 0 TDS mean?
TDS is total dissolved solids. A reading of 0 means the meter finds nothing dissolved in the water, which is what you want for topping up evaporation and for mixing salt, so the only things in your tank water are the ones you add.
What salinity is the natural seawater?
The common salinity is 34 to 36 ppt, with a pH of 8.0 to 8.3. These are typical figures, not a guarantee for every container, so test the water yourself before you use it in your tank.
